CRBI’S ANNUAL FISH FRY SET FOR NOVEMBER 23RD

The Coosa River Basin Initiative’s 2019 Fish Fry is scheduled for Saturday, November 23rd from 11 am until 3 pm at the First United Methodist Church in downtown Rome.  Tickets are now available online at www.coosa.org at a cost of $10 for adult plates or $7 for ‘small fries’ (aka kids), enthuses Ashley Ray, Outreach Coordinator for the CRBI, who adds that for that small price, diners will enjoy US farm-raised catfish filets, hushpuppies, coleslaw, cheese grits, desserts and tea.  The Barbaric Yawps will be there to provide musical entertainment.

The event will be highlighted by the crowning of the Catfish King and Queen for ’19 at 1:30 pm.  The honor will go to the people that raise the most money for the CRBI.  Catfish Court updates will be posted on the organization’s web page.

Funds raised from the Fish Fry will fuel CRBI efforts to ensure cleaner water in this area.  The group has big plans for 2020 to include bacterial monitoring on local waterways next summer, asserts Ray.  Chemical monitoring happens all year round.

Fish Fry tickets may also be purchased at the CRBI office at 5 Broad Street.  For more information, call (706) 232-2724 (CRBI).  Ray says that those who will be super busy on the 23rd may get their plates to go.
