It is almost time for trick or treaters to hit the streets once again as Halloween is just two days away.
Motorists are advised to use extreme caution around areas where kids will be trick or treating this Thursday. Corporal Don Bullard, a Life and Fire Safety Educator from the Rome-Floyd County Fire Department, asserts that kids are twice as likely to get hit by a car on Halloween.
Fellow educator Linda Patty adds that motorists need to be on the lookout for trick-or-treaters since trick-or-treaters will not be looking for motorists.
And once the festivities of the evening have ended, make sure to check your kids’ candy, urges Patty.
The local public safety community will come together this Thursday to host Treats Not Streets at the Rome-Floyd County Law Enforcement Center from 3 pm until 5:30 pm on Thursday, says Patty.
Inclement weather could have an impact on local Halloween activities. The National Weather Service has predicted showers and possibly a thunderstorm for Thursday. Officials with Rome-Floyd Parks and Recreation are watching the forecast and intend to make a decision early this Wednesday afternoon as to whether or not they will move the Truck or Treat event at Ridgeferry Park indoors, according to recreation services manager Jim Alred. The Downtown Trick or Treat is also slated for Thursday on Broad Street.
