BRAVES EMERGE VICTORIOUS IN PHILLY

The Atlanta Braves beat the Philadelphia Phillies 3-1 on Wednesday night in game three of a four game set at Citizens Bank Park in Philadelphia, allowing Atlanta to take a 2-1 lead in the NL East series.

Tyler Flowers led the charge offensively with a three-run homer in the top of the fourth inning.

Bryce Harper scored the Phillies’ lone run of the evening on a fielder’s choice grounder by Scott Kingery in the bottom of that inning.

Dallas Keuchel was credited with the win for Atlanta after giving up only one run and three hits, walking three and striking out eight over six innings. Mark Melancon picked up the save.  Zach Eflin took the loss for Philadelphia.

The Braves maintain a nine and a half game lead in the National League East over the Washington Nationals.  Their magic number to officially clinch their division is now eight with 15 games remaining in the regular season.  They’ll conclude their series versus the Phillies tonight in Philadelphia.  First pitch is scheduled for 7:15 pm.  The game will be broadcast on WLAQ 1410 AM and 96.9 FM.  Air time is 6 pm.
