VOTERS DIVIDED ON T-SPLOST

Written by Matt Davis on July 30, 2012. Posted in News/Weather

The transportation referendum, or T-SPLOST, just might be an issue that draws voters to the polls.

Mike Morton with the Rome TEA Party says he is opposed to the referendum.  Speaking as an individual and not representative of the TEA Party’s opinion as a whole, Morton says he does not want to support a tax increase.  He contends that this would be the largest tax increase in Georgia’s history.

Proponents of the T-SPLOST say that the measure will create jobs and attract industry to our community.

Regardless of their stance, both parties can agree that it is important for voters to be informed as they head to the polls.
