The Rome Braves opened their 2013 season with a 5-3 win over the Savannah Sand Gnats last night in Savannah.  The Braves scored three runs in the top of the eighth to take the come back victory.  Tyler Tewell drove in the tying run.  Felix Marte broke that tie and gave the Braves the lead with a two-run double.

Reliever Francois LaFreniere was credited with the win for the Braves last night, while Bret Mitchell got the loss for the Sand Gnats.  The teams will go at it again tonight at 7:05 pm at Savannah’s Grayson Stadium.

The Rome Braves will play their home opener tomorrow night at 7 pm at State Mutual Stadium.  Long time Atlanta Braves coach Grady Little is slated to throw out the ceremonial first pitch.

Once again this season, you can hear all the action of Rome Braves baseball on 95.7 FM The Ridge.  Ben Poplin will provide the play by play story for every game, home and away, on the radio and online at www.theridge957.com.
