Written by Matt Davis on November 2, 2018. Posted in News/Weather

The Americanism Committee of the Exchange Club of Rome will honor our nation’s veterans with a special Veterans Appreciation Day event on Saturday, November 10th from 9 am until 2 pm on the Coosa Valley Fairgrounds located on Martin Luther King Jr Blvd in Rome.

Veterans and others are invited to attend the event, which will be highlighted by displays from Duke Military Museum, Richard Riggs and others.  Support organizations will be present to assist veterans; services will include adoption of animals from PAWS and hair cuts by students from Georgia Northwestern Technical College.  Redmond and Floyd EMS will bring their vehicles to the fairgrounds, as will the Rome-Floyd SWAT team.  In addition, there will be a drone demonstration courtesy of the Floyd County Emergency Management Agency.  A car show will be presented by Old School Cruisers.

Event organizer John Fortune says that the goal of Veterans Appreciation Day is to honor those who have served.

The event will be held rain or shine.  For more information, contact Fortune at (706) 346-0119.

Veterans Day 2018 is Sunday, November 11th.
