THERE’S A NEW ADDITION TO THE MUSEUM OF FLIGHT!  WELL, PART OF A NEW ADDITION…

Written by Matt Davis on May 8, 2018. Posted in News/Weather

There’s been a new addition to the Museum of Flight at the Russell Regional Airport in Rome.  Well, part of a new addition.

The wings of an F-14 Tomcat officially arrived in Rome from Richmond, VA on Monday.  Pete O’Hare, museum volunteer, attests that the fuselage of this historic aircraft will arrive at a later date.  At that time, the plane will again be put back together as if it were ready to fly.

O’Hare adds that most F-14s were destroyed when they were brought out of service.  That would have been the fate of this particular aircraft, had it not been rescued by the Museum of Flight.

The fuselage of the F-14 Tomcat is anticipated to arrive in Rome by October, according to O’Hare.

The Museum of Flight is open every Tuesday through Saturday from 10 am until 4 pm and on Sundays from 1 pm until 4 pm.  More information may be obtained on their website at www.mofts.org.
