THE YEAR 2017 LIKELY TO BE REMEMBERED AS BANNER YEAR FOR TOURISM IN ROME AND FLOYD COUNTY

Written by Matt Davis on December 4, 2017. Posted in News/Weather

The year 2017 is likely to be remembered as a banner year for tourism in Rome and Floyd County.  Visitors from all over the country and even from around the world descended upon this community for recent events such as the Wings Over North Georgia air show as well as the Rome International Film Festival (which featured an appearance by Burt Reynolds), in addition to the ACC Tennis Tournament last Spring.

Kristi Kent, Director of Communications for the Greater Rome Convention and Visitors Bureau, indicates that it will be awhile until officials know the total economic impact of tourism on the area for 2017.  She anticipates that those numbers will exhibit continued growth for the industry.

The community benefits from tourism, says Kent, who adds that the industry will benefit greatly from the SPLOST recently approved by Rome and Floyd County voters.
