The Thanksgiving holiday travel period continues.  The 102-hour period officially began on Wednesday evening at 6 pm and ends at midnight on Sunday, November 25th.  There has been one fatality on Georgia’s roads so far this holiday travel period.  It was reported by the Forsyth County Sheriff’s Office.  The Georgia State Patrol reported some 168 traffic crashes with 65 injuries as of early this morning.

State troopers are out in force this holiday weekend, looking out for impaired drivers and those not wearing seat belts.  They are advising motorists to use caution and plan ahead for their holiday travels.

The highest number of traffic deaths ever recorded for the Thanksgiving holiday travel period was 43 in 1969.  The lowest was four in 1949.
