TELLUS SCIENCE MUSEUM TO CELEBRATE THE SMARTPHONE WITH A NEW SPECIAL EXHIBIT

Written by Matt Davis on October 6, 2017. Posted in News/Weather

Tellus Science Museum in Cartersville, a Smithsonian affiliate, will soon unveil a new special exhibit about something we all know, love and use (some of us more than others) – the smartphone.  The exhibit, entitled “The World at Your Fingertips”, will officially open in the museum’s Crossroads Gallery tonight; the opening will be accompanied by a special lecture by Smithsonian Curator of Electricity Dr. Harold Wallace at 7 pm.

Jose Santamaria, Executive Director of the Tellus Science Museum, says that “The World at Your Fingertips” features artifacts from numerous sources, including the Smithsonian’s National Museum of American History, and explores the history behind the technologies that have been incorporated into the smartphone.

The museum will be open tonight until 10 pm.  In addition to the unveiling of the new exhibit, there will be free planetarium shows and night time viewing in the Tellus observatory.  Admission is free to members of the museum and included in the cost of regular admission for non-members.  Get more details online at www.tellusmuseum.org.

“The World at Your Fingertips” will remain on display at the Tellus Science Museum through June 10, 2018.
