SLIGHTLY COOLER TEMPS, HIGH HEAT INDEX VALUES EXPECTED IN ROME TODAY

Written by Matt Davis on August 9, 2018. Posted in News/Weather

Greater Rome is in for some (slightly) cooler temperatures today, following a downpour late Wednesday.

Another chance for showers and thunderstorms – about 30 percent – is on tap for this afternoon.  Otherwise, skies will be partly sunny today.  Temperatures are expected to only reach the upper 80s, though heat index values as high as 97 have been predicted by the National Weather Service.

Showers and thunderstorms remain in the forecast into the weekend, to varied degrees.

Just under four-tenths of an inch of rain was reported at the Russell Regional Airport in Rome during Wednesday’s downpour.
