SHOWERS AND THUNDERSTORMS MOVE INTO AREA

Written by Matt Davis on August 14, 2012. Posted in News/Weather

Showers and thunderstorms moved into Northwest Georgia yesterday afternoon and continued off and on throughout the evening.  The National Weather Service reported just over a half an inch of rain at the Richard B. Russell Regional Airport/Admiral John H. Towers Field in Armuchee from yesterday afternoon thru early this morning.  Today’s forecast calls for a 40 percent chance of showers and thunderstorms with otherwise partly sunny skies and a high of 88, according to the NWS.  New rainfall amounts between a tenth and a quarter of an inch are possible, with higher amounts possible in thunderstorms.
