The Shorter University Lady Hawks are the NCCAA South Region Champions!  The top seeded Lady Hawks picked up a 74-47 victory over defending region champion and second seeded Emmanuel College last night in the championship game of the National Christian College Athletic Associations Division I South Region Tournament.  Shorter will go on to participate in the NCCAA Women’s Basketball Division I Championship, which will is set for March 13-16 at Grace College in Winona Lake, Indiana.  This will mark the fourth consecutive season for the Lady Hawks to participate in a national tournament.  They made it to the NAIA Division I Women’s Basketball National Championship for the past three seasons, but were ineligible for postseason play this year as Shorter makes the transition from the NAIA to the NCAA Division II.

Shorter’s Hawks will begin their run in the NCCAA Division I South Region Tournament today.  The tourney begins today and continues thru Saturday at Emmanuel College in Franklin Springs, Georgia.  The Hawks are the top seed in the region tournament and will open tournament play against eighth seeded Bob Jones University at 3 pm this afternoon.  The winner of the region tournament will proceed to the NCCAA Men’s Basketball Division I Championship at Grace College next week.
