SEXUAL ASSAULT AWARENESS MONTH CONTINUES WITH A PLETHORA OF ACTIVITIES LOCALLY
The observation of Sexual Assault Awareness Month continues throughout April. A multitude of activities are being held locally to raise awareness of the issue of sexual assault; the slate is organized by the Sexual Assault Center of Northwest Georgia.
The annual Jeans 4 Justice walk is scheduled for this Friday. It will depart from the Rome City Auditorium at 11:30 am. SAC director Kim Davis says its purpose is encourage public support of sexual assault victims.
Davis states that every 98 seconds, someone is sexually assaulted in the United States.
Other events planned locally for Sexual Assault Awareness Month include the annual Row Down the River to benefit the Sexual Assault Center of NWGA and the Hospitality House for Women on Saturday. The Take Back the Night Speak Out is scheduled for next Thursday, April 27th at 6 pm at the First Baptist Church of Rome; the speaker will be Nicole Braddock Bromley, founder of OneVOICE and OneVOICE4freedom.
