Written by Matt Davis on August 3, 2017. Posted in News/Weather

The Rome and Floyd County school systems will delay dismissal on Monday, August 21st due to the total solar eclipse that will cover portions of the US.  Both school systems announced on Wednesday their plans to delay dismissal of schools by 30 minutes to ensure safe viewing of the eclipse in addition to safe dismissal of students.  The delay will also allow for unique educational opportunities.  All schools will begin at the regular time that day.

The eclipse is anticipated to last from about 1 pm until 4 pm in the Rome area with the peak expected around 2:34 pm.
