School’s back in session for most area schools and will be soon for those who have not yet returned to class.  School traffic can pose a threat to the safety of children.  Daniel Carpenter, fire safety educator with the Rome Fire Department, advises motorists to use caution in school zones.  He says that kids are excited about being back at school and may not be paying attention to what’s going on around them.

Robert Owens, also a fire safety educator with the Rome Fire Department, echoes Carpenter’s sentiments.  He says to be particularly cautious around school zones, and don’t follow too closely in school parking lots.

Still to return to school – Darlington.  They’ll head back to class next Monday, August 20th.
