SALVATION ARMY OF ROME TO BENEFIT FROM 4TH ANNUAL RUN FOR THE HOMELESS

Written by Matt Davis on May 12, 2017. Posted in News/Weather

The Salvation Army of Rome will benefit from the 4th annual Run for the Homeless scheduled for Saturday, May 20th.  It will feature a 5K race, the one-mile Go-Go run and a two-mile family fun walk.  Funds raised from the event will benefit the Salvation Army’s homeless outreach and community feeding programs, according to Corps Officer Jason Smith.  Registration is available online at www.salvationarmyrome.org.

Participation costs $30 for the 5K/one mile run combo, $20 for the 5K alone and $15 for the two-mile walk.

Activities will commence at Harbin Clinic’s Neurology Center at 550 Redmond Road.  The 5K and two-mile family fun walk will start at 8 am, while the one-mile will take off at 9 am.

Race day registration will begin at 7 am and end promptly at 7:45 am.

Over 150 participated in the Run for the Homeless last year.  Smith hopes for even more participants this year in order to raise enough funds to meet the increased financial needs of the Salvation Army’s homeless shelter.

The race is a part of National Salvation Army Week, an observation which begins on Monday.
