A Rome man now faces a felony murder charge after reportedly beating a two year old child to death.

According to a report from the Floyd County Police Department, officers responded to a call on Friday afternoon regarding an unresponsive child.  A two year old and a five year old had been left in the care of Hassan Rashad, a 38 year old from a Dodd Boulevard address.  The two year old had been severely injured and sustained multiple internal injuries; the child later died as a result of those injuries.  This act was committed in the presence of the five year old child.

Rashad has been charged with aggravated battery, aggravated assault, two counts of cruelty to children in the first degree and felony murder.
