ROME-FLOYD COUNTY COMMISSION ON CHILDREN AND YOUTH JOINS OBSERVANCE OF CHILD ABUSE PREVENTION MONTH

Written by Matt Davis on April 9, 2018. Posted in News/Weather

The Rome-Floyd County Commission on Children and Youth has joined with other human service agencies (such as the Exchange Club Family Resource Center) to observe Child Abuse Prevention Month in April.

Carol Willis, RFCCCY Executive Director, indicates that the local foster care crisis is largely due to issues related to child abuse.  A high poverty rate in the area also contributes to a rise in the need for foster families.

Willis adds that the issues that impact this generation are not exactly the same as they were two decades ago.  Her organization’s goal is to collaborate with other local agencies to ensure that Rome and Floyd County children grow up to be (safe and) productive citizens.

To learn more about the Rome-Floyd County Commission on Children and Youth, contact Carol Willis by email at carol.willis@comcast.net or by phone at (706) 766-8880.

For a complete listing of activities scheduled for the local observation of Child Abuse Prevention Month, visit the Exchange Club Family Resource Center’s website at www.exchangeclubfrc.org.
