ROME DODGES WEATHER BULLET ON MONDAY; SHOWERS AND THUNDERSTORMS IN THE FORECAST FOR TODAY

Rome remains under a Flash Flood Watch until 2 am on Wednesday morning, according to the National Weather Service. The forecast for today calls for a 90 percent chance of showers and thunderstorms with the high temperatures in the upper 70s; that chance for showers and thunderstorms increases to 100 percent tonight with overnight lows in the low 60s.

Rome appears to have dodged a bullet with the severe storms that swept thru the South on Monday, which resulted in some tornadoes and even a couple of deaths in Georgia. Four-tenths of an inch of rain were reported on Monday at the Russell Regional Airport in Rome, which remained under a tornado watch throughout the afternoon.
