ROME CITY COMMISSION TO MEET IN TWO-DAY RETREAT THIS WEEK
The Rome City Commission will hold a two-day planning session this Wednesday and Thursday at Berry College’s Winshape Retreat Center. Rome City Manager John Bennett indicates that a proposed 2013 SPLOST will be among the topics of discussion.
Voters in Rome and Floyd County voted down the 2012 SPLOST that appeared on the ballot last March.
Bennett says that Floyd County Commissioners will join the City Commission for part of the retreat. The County Commission is expected to appoint members to the 2013 Citizens SPLOST Committee at its regular meeting this evening.
Bennett, who recently delivered his State of the City address before the Rome City Commission, says that the City of Rome has taken in more money than it has spent in the past year.
