The 9th annual Rome Celebrity Dance Challenge is among the local activities planned for this weekend!  It will take place on Saturday night at 7 pm at the Rome City Auditorium.

Modeled after the hit ABC-TV program “Dancing With The Stars”, the Rome Celebrity Dance Challenge is a fund-raiser for the Sexual Assault Center of Northwest Georgia.  This year’s event will feature nine celebrity teams which will dance in a wide variety of styles.

All proceeds will go towards services for sexual assault victims in this area, according to Kimberly King, Executive Director, who adds that money will also fund prevention education.

A limited number of tickets remained available on Thursday at a cost of $30 for general admission and $75 for patrons.  They may be purchased online at www.romecelebritydancechallenge.com.  For event updates, along with video and pictures of the 2019 competitors, visit Rome Celebrity Dance Challenge’s Facebook page.

Also this Saturday, the Floyd County Republican Party’s 14th annual Tillman Hangar Rally will take place at Rome’s Russell Regional Airport.  US Senator David Perdue has officially been confirmed as a guest for this year.  The rally will begin at 11 am; doors open at 10 am.

The Chieftains Museum/Major Ridge Home’s annual Low Country Boil and Barbecue event is scheduled for this evening.  It will be held at the Palladium on the Coosa Valley Fairgrounds.  Doors open at 6:30 pm, and dinner will be served at 7:30 pm.  The event will feature live and silent auctions, as well as  live musical entertainment by the Barbaric Yawps. Get additional information online at www.chieftainsmuseum.org.  Tickets are $80 per individual.  Tables for eight are $640.  Proceeds will benefit the museum.
