It took them 14 innings and about four and a half hours to do it, but the Rome Braves beat the Augusta Greenjackets 3-2 in the finale of a three game series (and a seven game homestand) yesterday at State Mutual Stadium.

The game remained scoreless until the sixth inning, at which time the Greenjackets scored a pair of runs to take a 2-0 lead.  The Braves tied it up with two runs in the ninth.  A walk-off single from Carlos Sanchez in the bottom of the 14th sealed the Braves’ victory.

Michael Swanner got the win for Rome, while DJ Snelton took the loss for Augusta.  Braves starter Tyler Brosius recorded five no-hit innings.

The Braves will be in Asheville tonight thru Sunday for a four game series with the Tourists to close out the first half of the 2014 season.  Tonight’s series opener is set for 7:05 pm at Asheville’s McCormick Field.  Coverage will be provided on 95.7 FM The Ridge and www.theridge957.com.  Air time for the pre-game show is 6:50 pm.

The Braves’ series in Asheville will be followed by the South Atlantic League All Star break.
