ROMANS TO ROLL OUT THE RED CARPET TODAY THROUGH SUNDAY FOR ROME INTERNATIONAL FILM FESTIVAL

Written by Matt Davis on November 9, 2017. Posted in News/Weather

Rome is ready to roll out the red carpet as visitors from around the world descend upon the city for the 14th annual Rome International Film Festival, which gets underway tonight!  It will continue through Sunday.

Cameron McAllister, RIFF Executive Director, says that a total of 91 films from some 21 countries will be featured in this year’s festival.  The opening night film “Mankiller”, a documentary, will be screened this evening at 7 pm at the Historic DeSoto Theatre.

And, of course, the highlight of this year’s festival will be an appearance by Burt Reynolds!  He will be the guest of honor on Saturday night as RIFF celebrates the 40th anniversary of “Smokey and the Bandit”.  Reynolds will also be present for a screening of his new film “Dog Years” on Sunday.  Both films will be followed by Q&A sessions with the Academy Award nominee and Golden Globe winner.

In addition to film screenings, the Rome International Film Festival will include workshops for locals (and others) who are interested in breaking into the entertainment industry.

Festival passes may be purchased online at www.riffga.com.  The website also features a complete event schedule.
