RICH IS EXCITED TO SEE TAXPAYER DOLLARS AT WORK IN THE RIVER DISTRICT OF DOWNTOWN ROME

Rome’s City Manager Sammy Rich is excited to see taxpayer dollars at work in the community.  He is especially enthusiastic about the streetscape project  currently taking shape in the River District of downtown Rome, thanks to the voters’ support of the 2017 SPLOST.

This streetscape project in the River District is very reminiscent of a similar project that took place on Broad Street in the ’80s, adds Rich.  Rejuvenation followed the streetscape project on Broad; Rich hopes for a comparable trend in the River District.

Rich anticipates that public investment will lead private entities to also invest in the River District.

The collection on the ’17 SPLOST (or special purpose, local option sales tax) began earlier this year.
