PERDUE, ISAKSON COMMENT ON DACA RESCINDENCE

Written by Matt Davis on September 6, 2017. Posted in News/Weather

US Senator David Perdue supports President Donald Trump’s decision to end the Deferred Action for Childhood Arrivals (DACA) program.

In a statement released on Tuesday, Perdue says, “President Obama acted outside of his constitutional authority when he unilaterally changed our immigration laws through executive order.  It is clear President Trump and Attorney General Sessions are committed to tackling the problems with our broken immigration system.”

Perdue’s colleague Johnny Isakson had a bit different opinion.  Via Twitter, Isakson stated on Tuesday, “Children who received status under President Obama’s deferred action executive order should not be punished for their parents’ choices.  Congress should protect these young people while also working toward stronger measures to secure our borders and enforce our immigration laws going forward.”

Attorney General Jeff Sessions announced on Tuesday that the DACA program is being rescinded.
