The Atlanta Braves closed out the first half of the 2017 season with a loss to the Washington Nationals 10-5 in the finale of a four game set at Nationals Park in Washington DC on Sunday, settling for a 2-2 split in the series.

The Atlanta Braves beat the Washington Nationals 5-2 in the opener of a four game set in Washington DC on Thursday night.  The victory followed a delay of three hours in anticipation of rain that turned out to be minimal.

PROCTOR SWORN IN AS FLOYD COUNTY CORONER

Gene Proctor was officially sworn in as Floyd County’s new coroner on Thursday.  He took the oath of office from Probate Judge Steve Burkhalter.  Proctor, who had served as deputy coroner for some 10 years prior to his promotion, succeeds longtime coroner Barry Henderson, who announced his resignation from the post on Friday.

FINAL JULY 4TH TRAFFIC COUNT ANNOUNCED, 17 LIVES LOST ON GEORGIA’S ROADS OVER HOLIDAY WEEKEND

The Georgia Department of Public Safety has announced that a total of 17 people lost their lives on the state’s roads over the July 4th travel period.  The 102-hour long period began on Friday, June 30th at 6 pm and concluded at 11:59 pm on Tuesday, July 4th.
