Today is the first day of school for students in the Rome City Schools!  Kids at Berry College Elementary and Middle Schools also begin their 2018-2019 school year today.

A NEW SCHOOL YEAR BEGINS FOR FLOYD COUNTY SCHOOLS (AS WELL AS ST. MARY’S)

This is the first day of classes for students in the Floyd County Schools!  St. Mary’s School also begins the 2018-2019 school year today.  The first day of the new school year is tomorrow for those in the Rome City School system as well as Berry College Elementary and Middle Schools.

ATLANTA BRAVES TAKE FINALE IN EXTRAS VERSUS METS IN NY

The Atlanta Braves defeated the New York Mets 5-4 in 10 innings on Sunday in the finale of a four game set at Citi Field in New York, allowing Atlanta to take the series 3-1.

Just a little over two months remain until the Wings Over North Georgia air show returns to the skies over Rome’s Russell Regional Airport.  This year’s show is slated for October 13th and 14th and will be headlined by the US Air Force F-22 Raptor and A-10 Thunderbolt II Demonstration Teams.

Just in time for the start of this new school year, the First Baptist Church of Rome will host Dr. Ruby Payne, acclaimed author, educator and an expert on building pathways out of poverty, for a series of sessions intended to address the issue of poverty in Rome and Floyd County.
