AAA:  MEMORIAL DAY GAS PRICES WERE THE LOWEST IN 11 YEARS

AAA, The Auto Club Group, reported the lowest gas prices for Memorial Day in 11 years.  The average price for a gallon of gasoline was $2.32 nationwide and $2.27 in Georgia, down by 42 cents and 39 cents, respectively.

The Rome Braves fell to the Columbia Fireflies 5-1 on Memorial Day at State Mutual Stadium.  The teams will play the middle outing of their three-game set this evening at 7 pm.

ROME SHAKESPEARE FESTIVAL OPENS THIS EVENING

The Rome Shakespeare Festival opens tonight and will continue through Sunday, June 5th.  It’s debut production, “A Midsummer Night’s Dream”, will be staged on the Town Green next to The Forum in downtown Rome.  Showtime is 8 pm each night.

DARLINGTON SCHOOL TO BREAK GROUND ON NEW SOLAR FARM THIS SUMMER

Darlington School will break ground on a new five-acre solar farm in early July on the school’s campus near Cave Spring and Hopewell Streets.  The project was developed by Atlanta-based Inman Solar and will provide power to the local grid by way of a 900-kilowatt array consisting of 2,813 modules on tilted panels.
