ROME CITY, FLOYD COUNTY COMMISSIONS TO HOLD MEETINGS THIS WEEK

The Rome City Commission will meet in regular session this evening.  They’ll gather for a caucus session at 5 pm to be followed by their regular meeting at 6:30 pm at City Hall (the City Auditorium) on Broad Street.  Both are open to the public.

BURN BAN LIFTED IN FLOYD COUNTY

The Floyd County Board of Commissioners has voted to rescind the emergency temporary burn ban that has been in place for about a month.  The lifting of the total ban on outdoor burning was approved unanimously by a vote of 3-0, according to County Clerk Erin Elrod.

HAWKS AT BUCKS TONIGHT

The Atlanta Hawks will face the Milwaukee Bucks in NBA action tonight in Milwaukee, Wisconsin.  Tip off is set for 8 pm.  The game will be televised on Fox Sports Southeast.

FALCONS DOMINATE RAMS IN LOS ANGELES

The Atlanta Falcons beat the Los Angeles Rams 42-14 in Los Angeles, California on Sunday.  It was the Falcons’ fourth win in their last six games and marked the fourth straight loss for the Rams, who have lost eight of their last nine games.

COLD WEATHER DRAWS ATTENTION TO NEED FOR PRECAUTION WITH HEATING DEVICES

Cold weather has officially made its way to Northwest Georgia!  Lows dipped into the 20s overnight in Greater Rome on Thursday night.  The National Weather Service predicts that highs will only reach the low 40s today.  Temperatures will drop back into the 20s tonight, and winds will make it feel even colder.  Saturday’s forecast calls for similar conditions.

ROME HIGH TO COMPETE FOR STATE TITLE TODAY

It’s time for Rome to head to the Dome!  The Rome High football team will play for a GHSA state title for the first time in school history this afternoon at the Georgia Dome in Atlanta.  It will be a battle of the Wolves versus the Wolves as Rome is scheduled to face Buford in the Class 5A state championship game at 4:30 pm.

ROME CITY SCHOOLS TO DISMISS EARLY ON FRIDAY IN SUPPORT OF WOLVES’ QUEST FOR A STATE TITLE

The Rome City Schools will be dismissing early on Friday in support of the Rome High School football team as the Wolves head to the Georgia Dome in the hunt for a GHSA state title.
