In other Braves news, the Rome Braves have released their roster for the 2012 season.  Rome Braves General Manager Mike Dunn says, “This is an exciting young team.  We look forward to our tenth season of baseball under the leadership of Randy Ingle and our fine coaching staff.”

Shorter University’s baseball Hawks will be in Waleska, Georgia to take on Reinhardt today in a non-league double header.  The first game is set to get underway at 4 pm.

SHORTER DEAN OF NURSING ANNOUNCES DEPARTURE, PLANS TO HELP BERRY COLLEGE START NURSING PROGRAM

Shorter University’s dean of the School of Nursing Vanice Roberts has announced her departure from the University.  Roberts says she will not return to Shorter after this school year.  She intends to assist Berry College with its plans to offer a four-year program leading to a bachelor of science in nursing.  Berry College President Steve Briggs says that Roberts will serve as a consultant for the program.

Guess what, Braves fans?!  Opening day is just two days away for both the Atlanta Braves and the Rome Braves.  The 2012 season will open this Thursday for the Atlanta Braves in New York against the Mets and for the Rome Braves in Charleston, South Carolina against the Riverdogs.  We remind you that once the regular season begins, you’ll be able to hear all the action of Atlanta Braves baseball on WLAQ AM 1410 and Rome Braves baseball on 95.7 FM The Ridge.

KENTUCKY WINS NCAA CHAMPIONSHIP GAME

And just in case you didn’t stay up late to watch the NCAA Division I Men’s Basketball Championship, Kentucky beat Kansas 67-59 in the big game last night in New Orleans, Louisiana.  That marks Wildcats’ eighth national title and their first since 1998.
