ATLANTA FALCONS TO HIT PRIME TIME ON MONDAY NIGHT AGAINST DENVER BRONCOS

The Atlanta Falcons will spend the weekend preparing for Monday Night Football as they are set to host the Denver Broncos this coming Monday night at the Georgia Dome.  The game will be broadcast on 95.7 FM The Ridge.  Kick off is set for 8:30 pm.

The Georgia Economic Developers Association has selected Rome and Floyd County for the Deal of the Year in the medium category for securing the Lowe’s Regional Distribution Center.  The award was presented last night during the Annual Awards Ceremony in Savannah.

JUNIOR SERVICE LEAGUE OF ROME UNDERWAY WITH ANNUAL POINSETTIA SALE

The Junior Service League of Rome is underway with their annual Poinsettia Sale.  The sale began on Tuesday and continues thru mid November, according to sale chairwoman Jennifer Helbing.  She says the poinsettias come in three sizes:  small for $10, medium for $15 and large for $20.  They come in a variety of colors including red, white, pink and marble.

ATLANTA BRAVES SET TO HOST WASHINGTON NATIONALS AT THE TED THIS WEEKEND

The Atlanta Braves were off last night and will host the Washington Nationals in a three game series over the weekend at Turner Field.  First pitch of tonight’s game is set for 7:35 pm.  That game will not be broadcast on WLAQ AM 1410 due to our coverage of Darlington vs. Chattooga in high school football.  Nor will we have tomorrow’s game due to our coverage of Georgia Tech football vs. Virginia.  We will, however, have the Braves’ series closer with the Nats on Sunday night.

THREE FINALISTS CHOSEN FOR 2013 FLOYD COUNTY SCHOOLS TEACHER OF THE YEAR

Three teachers have been selected as finalists for the 2013 Teacher of the Year recognition program for the Floyd County Schools.  According to a release from the school system, the finalists are:  Kim Baker, a middle grades teacher at the Floyd County Education Center; Allison Goggans, a history teacher at Pepperell High School; and Shannon Pollitz, an eighth-grade gifted language arts teacher at Pepperell Middle School.

ATLANTA BRAVES SWEPT BY MILWAUKEE BREWERS IN MILWAUKEE TO FINISH ROAD TRIP 3-3, RELEASE 2013 SCHEDULE

The Atlanta Braves lost to the Milwaukee Brewers 8-2 in the teams’ series finale last night at Milwaukee’s Miller Park, allowing the Brewers to sweep the Braves in the three game set.
