DEADLINE TO REGISTER TO VOTE IN NOVEMBER 6TH ELECTION IS TODAY!!!

If you plan to vote in the November 6th general election, you might want to go ahead and make sure you’re registered to do so.  The deadline to register to vote in the November 6th election is today.  Floyd County residents can register at the Elections Office located inside the Floyd County Administration Building on East Fourth Avenue in downtown Rome.  For more information, call (706) 291-5123.  You can check your registration status online on the Georgia Secretary of State’s website at www.mvp.sos.state.ga.us.

ROME-FLOYD ECO CENTER TO HOST SEMINAR ON WHITETAIL DEER THIS THURSDAY NIGHT

Attention hunters!!  The Rome-Floyd ECO Center will host a free seminar on whitetail deer hunting and management strategies this Thursday, October 11th at 7 pm at the ECO Center facility at Ridge Ferry Park.

COLLEGE FOOTBALL SCHEDULE: WEEK SEVEN

In your local college football update, after spending the majority of the 2012 season on the road, Shorter University will play their second home game in a row this Saturday at Barron Stadium against Ave Maria.  The non-conference game is scheduled to kick off at 1:30 pm and will be broadcast on 95.7 FM The Ridge and www.theridge957.com.  The Hawks currently have an even 3-3 record so far for the 2012 season.

THREE RIVERS RUN TO RAISE MONEY FOR THE BREAST CENTER AT FLOYD

October is Breast Cancer Awareness Month.  Many local institutions are observing it with a multitude of activities planned for the month, including the Floyd Healthcare Foundation.  The Foundation will host the second annual Three Rivers Run this Saturday, October 13th at 8:30 am.  The race will begin at the Floyd Corporate Support Center at 420 East Second Avenue and wind thru downtown Rome and along the Kingfisher Trail, a walking and biking path.

SUMMERVILLE MAN KILLED IN NEW ROSEDALE ROAD WRECK

A Summerville man was killed in a wreck on New Rosedale Road yesterday.  John William Patterson, age 24, died at the scene of the wreck after his SUV left the road and struck a power pole near 3136 New Rosedale Road, according to reports.  Police are not certain why Patterson left the roadway, but it is believed that he could have fallen asleep.

The Atlanta Falcons are enjoying a great start to the 2012 season thus far, having made franchise history for beginning the season with five straight wins for the first time ever.  They hope to continue their winning ways and make it 6-0 as they play host to the Oakland Raiders on Sunday afternoon.  Kick off is set for 1 pm at the Georgia Dome.  The game will be broadcast on 95.7 FM The Ridge, Northwest Georgia’s home for Atlanta Falcons football.
