DEBATE NIGHT IN AMERICA, FLOYD COUNTY TONIGHT

Tonight will be Debate Night in America, with the second of three Presidential debates between President Barack Obama and his Republican challenger Mitt Romney on tap for 9 pm tonight at Hofstra University in Hempstead, New York.

HARBIN SELLS SOME PROPERTIES

Harbin Properties LLC has confirmed that it has sold a number of the Harbin properties in Rome to Indianapolis-based Duke Realty.  The move is not expected to affect Harbin Clinic operations.  The multimillion dollar deal involves Harbin properties in Rome and other Northwest Georgia communities, including the main Harbin building on Martha Berry Boulevard.

MLB POST SEASON UPDATE

In MLB playoff news, the San Francisco Giants posted a 7-1 win over the St. Louis Cardinals in game two of the National League Championship Series last night at San Francisco’s AT&T Park.  The best-of-seven series is now tied at a game apiece and moves to St. Louis for game three tomorrow at 4 pm.  The NLCS is being televised on FOX.

LOCAL RESIDENTS TO HIT THE TRAILS AGAINST ALZHEIMER’S DISEASE WITH ANNUAL WALK TO END ALZHEIMER’S

Local residents will hit the trails against Alzheimer’s Disease at the 2012 Walk to End Alzheimer’s on Saturday, November 10th at 10 am at Ridge Ferry Park in Rome.  Registration will begin at 8:30 am.

ISAKSON REPRESENTATIVE TO HOST OPEN OFFICE DAY FOR ROME CONSTITUENTS TODAY

US Senator Johnny Isakson has announced that his field representative, Amy Turner, will hold an open office day for constituents TODAY (Tuesday, October 16th) in Rome from 2 pm until 4 pm in the conference room of the Coosa Valley Credit Union at 1504 Dean Avenue.  Constituents are encouraged to talk with Turner about any issues concerning the federal government, federal legislation or federal agencies, such as Veterans Affairs, the IRS, Medicare, or the Bureau of Citizenship and Immigration Services.

ADVANCE VOTING BEGINS TODAY; POLITICAL CANDIDATES FORUMS SET FOR TOMORROW EVENING

Early/advance voting for the November 6th general election begins today.  It is being offered Monday thru Friday from 8 am until 5 pm thru November 2nd on the second floor of the Floyd County Administration Building on East Fourth Avenue in downtown Rome.  Saturday voting will be offered on October 27th from 9 am until 4 pm in the same location.  Another early/advance voting location will be open at the Rome Civic Center from October 29th thru November 2nd.

ZOMBIELAND IS OFFICIALLY OPEN FOR BUSINESS!!

The first weekend of Zombieland is in the books.  Zombieland is a haunted house conducted by the Floyd County Sheriff’s Office in an effort to raise funds for its youth programs.  It is in a new location this year, in front of Mount Berry Square Mall in the old Treasure Island building.
