NORTHSIDE SWIM CENTER TO HOST CUSTOMER APPRECIATION DAY THIS FRIDAY

The public is invited to Customer Appreciation Day at the Northside Swim Center this Friday, July 27th from noon until 3 pm, according to the Rome Floyd Parks and Recreation Authority.

The Rome Braves took a 2-0 victory from the Charleston RiverDogs in game two of a four game series last night in Charleston, South Carolina. With the win, the Braves have reclaimed the top spot in the Southern Division of the South Atlantic League.  

T-MINUS ONE WEEK UNTIL JULY 31ST PRIMARY

The July 31st primary election is one week from today.  Floyd County Elections Supervisor Evonne Billups says that turn out for early voting thus far has been kind of slow, but she expects it to pick up as we get closer to election day.

CRBI RELEASES E COLI DATA FOR ETOWAH RIVER

The Coosa River Basin Initiative has released e-coli numbers for July 19, 2012 at the Etowah River.  The geometric mean of the organization’s three testing sites was 36.3 colony forming units of bacteria per 100 milliliters, below the US Environmental Protection Agency’s safe level of 126 cfu/100 ml.

Chris Cannon and Luke Chaffin with the Greater Rome Convention and Visitors Bureau were recently honored with scholarships for tourism training and education.  

ATLANTA BRAVES TAKE TUESDAY NIGHT WIN OVER MIAMI MARLINS IN FLORIDA

The Atlanta Braves beat the Florida Marlins 4-3 last night in game two of a three game series in Miami, Florida.  Tim Hudson got the win for Atlanta.  After giving up three runs in the first two innings (including a two-run homer to Jose Reyes in the second), he settled down and gave up only those three runs on five hits in seven innings of work.  Craig Kimbrel got the save last night.  The Braves scored one in the first, one in the third, one in the fourth and one in the seventh and ended up with the final victory, again, of 4-3 over the Miami Marlins.  

RABIES A PROBLEM AGAIN IN 2012 IN FLOYD COUNTY; PET OWNERS URGED TO VACCINATE!

Rabies is on the rise again in Floyd County.  Floyd County Health Department Environmental Health Manager Mike Pitts said last week that have been three confirmed cases of animal rabies in Floyd County so far in 2012, including one cat and two racoons, more than any other Northwest Georgia county.  Floyd led the state last year with 15 confirmed cases.

The Rome Braves beat the Charleston RiverDogs 8-2 in the opener of a four game series last night in Charleston, South Carolina.
