The first day of summer is tomorrow, Wednesday, June 20th.  Dr. Dan Pate with the West Rome Animal Clinic says that you can ensure that your pets have a comfortable summer by protecting them from fleas and ticks and from the heat.  Dr. Pate says it’s important to keep your pets current on their flea and tick preventative as both are particularly bad this year with a fairly mild winter behind us.  Also, make sure you regularly fill your pets’ water bowls with fresh, cold water throughout the day.  And give your pets a cool place in which to rest and get relief from the summer heat.
