RAIN SHOULD CLEAR OUT IN TIME FOR THE FAIR

Hopefully the weather will clear out in time for the Coosa Valley Fair.  Rain moved into the area yesterday and remains in the forecast for today.  The National Weather Service reported just under an inch and a half of rain from yesterday evening thru early this morning.  Today’s forecast calls for a 90 percent chance of showers and possibly a thunderstorm with highs around 75.  A 60 percent chance of showers and thunderstorms is in the forecast for tonight with lows 63.  The rain is expected to clear out tomorrow.

The Atlanta Braves beat the New York Mets 6-2 yesterday at Turner Field to close out the Braves’ final regular season home stand for 2012.

ATLANTA FALCONS LOOKING TO STAY UNDEFEATED ON THE ROAD THIS WEEKEND; MONDAY NIGHT FOOTBALL UPDATE

The Atlanta Falcons are undefeated to start the 2012 season and hope to make it 5-0 this Sunday as they travel to Washington DC to take on the Redskins.  Kick off is set for 1 pm.  The game will be broadcast on 95.7 FM The Ridge, Northwest Georgia’s home for Atlanta Falcons football.

STATE’S BURN BAN LIFTED TODAY

With the arrival of October, the state’s burn ban is being lifted for 54 counties in the state of Georgia.  Daniel Carpenter, fire safety educator with the Rome Fire Department, says it’s important to get a permit before you burn.  Those in the city of Rome can get one by calling the Rome Fire Department headquarters at (706) 236-4500.  In Floyd County and other areas, call 1-877-OK2BURN.  You can also get a burn permit online at www.GaTrees.org.
