COLLEGE SOFTBALL: BERRY SPLITS FINAL DAY AT NTC CLASSIC, SHORTER SWEEPS UNIVERSITY OF WEST FLORIDA SPRING FLING

Berry College’s softball team settled for a split in the final day of the NTC Classic in Clermont, Florida yesterday.  The Lady Vikings lost to John Carroll 2-0, then took a 2-1 victory from Ohio Northern.  After spending an extensive time on the road to start the 2012 season, the Lady Vikes will play their first home games of the year next Wednesday as they host Truett McConnell in a double header at South Ford Field on the Berry College campus.

SHOULD REPUBLICAN PRESIDENTIAL CANDIDATES ANSWER QUESTIONS RELATED TO LIMBAUGH RANT?

Should candidates in the race for the Republican presidential nomination answer questions related to the recent rant of conservative talk show host Rush Limbaugh towards a Georgetown student in relation to her stance on insurance coverage on birth control?  Adam Clemons, the owner of Rome-based political consulting firm ABC Design and a member of Georgia’s state GOP committee, says he believes that the candidates should address those questions only if they’re relevant.

ATLANTA HAWKS PICK UP ROAD VICTORY FROM INDIANA PACERS

In NBA news, the Atlanta Hawks picked up a 101-96 win over the Indiana Pacers last night in the first outing of a six-game road trip.  The Hawks will be in Miami, Florida tonight to take on the Heat.  Tip off is set for 7:30 pm.

COLLEGE BASEBALL: BERRY PICKS UP TUESDAY SHUT OUT AT EMORY, SHORTER TO HOST MILLIGAN TODAY

In college baseball, Berry College’s Vikings picked up a 7-0 shut out victory at Emory yesterday.  The Vikes will get back into action as host to Maryville tomorrow at 3 pm at Berry’s William R. Bowdoin Field.

It was a Super Tuesday indeed for Newt Gingrich here in his home state of Georgia as he won the Peach State’s approval of his bid for the Republican presidential nomination in yesterday’s presidential preference primary election.

ISAKSON, BOXER INTRODUCE US-ISRAEL ENHANCED SECURITY COOPERATION ACT OF 2012

Senator Johnny Isakson of Georgia and Senator Barbara Boxer of California have crossed political party lines as the Republican and the Democrat introduced the United States-Israel Enhanced Security Cooperation Act of 2012.  According to a release from Senator Isakson’s office, the measure seeks to reaffirm the strong historic relationship between the United States and Israel as well as strengthen security cooperation between the two countries.

ATLANTA BRAVES FALL TO WASHINGTON NATIONALS IN SPRING TRAING ACTION

The Atlanta Braves lost to the Washington Nationals 5-2 yesterday in Spring Training action at ESPN’s Wide World of Sports in Lake Buena Vista, Florida.  The Braves will be in Lakeland to take on the Detroit Tigers today at 1:05 pm.

COLLEGE SOFTBALL: SHORTER DOWN ON GULF COAST FOR SOME GAMES, BERRY CONTINUES PLAY IN NTC CLASSIC

Berry College’s softball team picked up another win and took their first loss at the NTC Classic in Clermont, Florida yesterday.  The Lady Vikings lost to Moravian 5-3 before beating Elizabethtown 4-2.  They’ll return to action in the NTC Classic today with matches against John Carroll at 1 pm and Ohio Northern at 3 pm.
