NEIL ARMSTRONG REMEMBERED

Many people have been reflective over the first man on the moon, Neil Armstrong, in recent days since his passing on August 25th at the age of 82.  Joe Schulman, marketing director for the Tellus:  Northwest Georgia Science Museum in Cartersville, says that Armstrong’s work was ground breaking.
As Armstrong said upon setting foot on the moon, “That’s one small step for man, one giant leap for mankind”.

ROME BRAVES SET TO CLOSE OUT 2012 REGULAR SEASON WITH LABOR DAY GAME IN LEXINGTON, THEN OFF TO THE PLAYOFFS!!

The Rome Braves game against the Lexington Legends scheduled for yesterday was canceled due to impending inclement weather in Lexington, Kentucky.  The game will not be made up.  The 2012 regular season will come to a close today for the Braves and the Legends with a 12:05 pm game at Lexington’s Whitaker Bank Park.  The game will be broadcast on 95.7 FM The Ridge and www.theridge957.com.  Rome Braves radio voice JB Smith will go on the air with the pre-game show at 11:50 am.

The Atlanta Braves avoided being swept by the Philadelphia Phillies in dramatic fashion last night with an 8-7 win at Turner Field.  The Braves scored five runs in the bottom of the ninth to claim the victory, which was secured by a three run walk-off homer from Chipper Jones.  

COLLEGE FOOTBALL ON WLAQ TONIGHT AS GEORGIA TECH KICKS OFF SEASON AGAINST VIRGINIA TECH

College football will take to the airwaves of WLAQ AM 1410 this evening as the Georgia Tech Yellow Jackets open their 2012 season in Blacksburg, Virginia against Virginia Tech.  Pre-game programming will begin at 6 pm.  Kick off is set for 8 pm.

Here’s a reminder that you can catch all the action of Atlanta Falcons football this season on 95.7 FM The Ridge.  The regular season is set to open for the Falcons this Sunday, September 9th on the road against the Kansas City Chiefs.
