FLOYD COUNTY COMMISSION TO MEET TUESDAY

The Floyd County Commission is scheduled to meet in regular session tomorrow evening.  They’ll meet in a caucus session at 4 pm, which will be followed by their regular meeting at 6 pm at the Floyd County Administration Building on East Fourth Avenue in downtown Rome.  Take a look at their agenda online at www.romefloyd.com.

AARP TAX-AIDE VOLUNTEERS TO ONCE AGAIN PROVIDE TAX HELP

Tax season is here.  If you are in need of help with your taxes, trained AARP Tax-Aide volunteers will once again provide free help and electronic filing this year to low to middle income taxpayers.  The tax help will be offered at the Senior Adult Center at 1325 Kingston Road in Rome on Wednesdays from 1 pm until 4 pm, beginning on February 1st and continuing until April 11th.  It will also be offered at the Rome Floyd County Library at 205 Riverside Parkway on Mondays from 1:30 pm until 5 pm from February 6th through April 16th and on Saturdays from 10 am until 2 pm from February 4th through April 14th.  Those seeking AARP Tax-Aide assistance are advised to bring last year’s tax return and all available information for this year.

STORMY START TO WORK WEEK FOR ROME, NWGA

Stormy weather is expected to start the work week for Rome and Northwest Georgia.  The National Weather Service has issued a Tornado Watch that remains in effect until 11 am for Floyd County, along with Bartow, Catoosa,  Chattooga, Dade, Gordon, Haralson, Murray, Polk, Walker and Whitfield Counties.  Occasional storms and showers during the early part of the day are expected to give way to showers this afternoon, according to the NWS. Some of the storms could be severe.  Highs will be in the mid 60s.  Tonight will be partly cloudy with an overnight low in the mid 30s.  Sunshine will return tomorrow, with more showers forecasted for later in the week.
