OFFICE OF TOURISM INVITES ROMANS TO ‘BE A TOURIS’ IN YOUR HOMETOWN NEXT WEEK FOR NATIONAL TRAVEL AND TOURISM WEEK

The Georgia’s Rome Office of Tourism invites Romans to “Be a Tourist” in your hometown during National Travel and Tourism Week, slated for May 5th through 11th.  It will be a week to celebrate to the value that travel holds for the local economy, businesses and personal well-being, and encourages locals to obtain the full visitor experience by becoming tourists in their own town, according to a release from the tourism office. 

The slate of National Travel and Tourism Week events features a Downtown History Tour, Clocktower Tours and the Ellen Axson Wilson Art Fest that will be held on Saturday, May 4th, a day before the tourism week observance is set to begin.  Activities on Sunday, May 5th include a tour aboard the Sulzbacher Roman Holiday and Pup-a-Palooza at the new Rome-Floyd Dog Park.  Other highlights include an “As Time Goes By” Clocktower Garden Dedication set for Wednesday, May 8th and Roman Rose Trolley Tours on Friday, May 10th.  An opening reception for the Georgia’s Rome Photo Exhibition is scheduled for Saturday, May 11th; the exhibition will be on display through May 25th at Farrell’s Frame and Design.
