NWGA PUBLIC HEALTH:  IT’S NOT TOO LATE TO GET A FLU SHOT!

Written by Matt Davis on February 9, 2018. Posted in News/Weather

Officials with the Georgia Department of Public Health, Northwest Health District, say that it’s not too late to get a flu shot!  In fact, they highly advise that local residents do so as soon as possible.

Logan Boss, Public Information Officer/Risk Communicator, says that this particular flu season has been a somber reminder that the flu is one of the world’s greatest public health challenges.

Boss adds that what’s worse, this flu season may have yet to reach its peak.  In Georgia, flu season typically peaks in mid-February.

The best way to protect yourself (and your loved ones) from the flu?  Get a flu shot!  Boss says that it’s not too late!

Flu vaccines are available through the Floyd County Health Department.  For more information, call (706) 295-6123.

As of last count, public health officials say that there have been 51 flu-related deaths statewide so far this flu season, and that total is expected to rise.  New numbers are expected sometime today.
