NL EAST CHAMPION ATLANTA BRAVES BEGIN PLAYOFF RUN TONIGHT IN LA

Written by Matt Davis on October 4, 2018. Posted in News/Weather

The Atlanta Braves will begin their run in the 2018 MLB postseason tonight  with the first match of their National League Division Series against the LA Dodgers.  Mike Foltynewicz will go to the mound for the NL East champion Braves, and Hyun-Jin Ryu will serve as the starting pitcher for the NL West champion Dodgers.  First pitch is set for 8:37 pm at Dodger Stadium in Los Angeles.  The game will be broadcast locally on WLAQ AM 1410.  Air time is 7:20 pm from the Braves Radio Network.

This marks the Braves’ first postseason appearance since 2013, an NLDS in which they fell to the Dodgers in four games.  After four years of rebuilding for the Braves organization, first baseman Freddie Freeman says that he has relished this winning season.  Freeman told Jim Powell, voice of the Braves, that he’s glad he never left Atlanta; sticking around through that rebuild was ‘worth it’.

The Braves completed the 2018 regular season with a total of 90 wins and 72 losses.  The best-of-five division series versus the Dodgers will remain in Los Angeles for game two on Friday night and will shift to Atlanta for game three on Sunday night. Game four, if needed, will be played on Monday in Atlanta.  If a fifth game is needed, it will take place next Wednesday in LA.
