The Rome Area Council for the Arts has bestowed the Rome Arts Champion Award for this year to Nancy Smith.

The Rome Arts Champion Award was established in 2012 to be given each year to an organization or individual that has demonstrated the highest level of unselfish service to Greater Rome through the arts, according to a release from the Council.

Nancy Smith has served the local artistic community since 1975.  Her service has included time as President of the Chiaha Guild; she has also been a board member for RACA and the Rome International Film Festival.  She received a Heart of the Community Award in 2003.

RACA Executive Director Mandy Maloney states, “RACA has been able to continue to serve the Rome community for well over 40 years because of hard working, passionate people like Nancy who give so much of themselves to our cause.”

The award will be presented to Nancy Smith at RACA’s Firefly Fling, which is set for April 26th at Rotary Plaza.  Event information is featured online at www.romearts.org
