MARY’S KNIGHTS OF COLUMBUS LABOR DAY BBQ ENTERS 50TH YEAR

Written by Matt Davis on September 1, 2017. Posted in News/Weather

A local Labor Day tradition enters its 50th year in 2017.  The St. Mary’s Knights of Columbus Labor Day BBQ will be held on Monday at the Rome Civic Center.  Doors open at 10 am, and food will be served until 2 pm (or until sold out).

Proceeds from the barbecue will once again fund local charities, states Kevin Wall of the Knights of Columbus chapter from St. Mary’s Catholic Church, who adds that he is excited to celebrate the event’s golden anniversary.

Wall muses that the barbecue tends to be a bit of a homecoming, or reunion, for local residents.

Tickets are $9 and may be purchased at the door or from any Knight.  Food selection includes barbecue pork, beef and chicken, Brunswick stew and all the ‘fixings’.  Diners may eat-in or carry out.

For more information about the St. Mary’s Knights of Columbus Labor Day BBQ, visit www.kofcromega.us.

If you’re looking for something to do over Labor Day weekend, you have a number of options in Rome and Floyd County.  Those include the 45th annual Armuchee Labor Day Bluegrass Festival at the Armuchee Music Park and the 28th annual Running Water Pow-wow Cherokee Homecoming and Ripe Corn Festival at Ridgeferry Park.
