LOCAL GOLFERS SOUGHT TO PARTICIPATE IN ANNUAL SWING FOR THE KIDS GOLF CLASSIC

Written by Matt Davis on July 9, 2018. Posted in News/Weather

Attention, golfers!  You are invited to participate in the 24th annual Swing for the Kids Golf Classic, a benefit for the Rome-Floyd County Commission on Children and Youth, scheduled for Friday, September 7th at Stonebridge Golf Club in Rome.  Registration is set for 8 am; the tournament will begin with a shotgun start at 9 am.

Carol Willis, the Commission’s Director, says that some 20-25 four-member teams are sought to enjoy a leisurely day of golf just after Labor Day.  Money raised from this year’s Swing for the Kids will fund mini-grants to be offered by the RFCCCY to local non-profits.

The mini-grants will be distributed among agencies whose primary mission is to benefit the well-being of youth and families community-wide, adds Willis.  Past recipients of such grants include the YMCA of Rome and Floyd County and Georgia Highlands College’s Foundation Camp.

If you are interested in participating in the tournament, Willis encourages you to assemble your team and reach out to her! The cost is $500 per team, which includes a continental breakfast, along with a BBQ lunch (which will feature homemade desserts).  Sponsorship opportunities are also available.

For more information about the 24th annual Swing for the Kids Golf Classic, to register a team, or inquire about sponsorship opportunities, contact Carol Willis via phone at (706) 766-8880 or email at carol.willis@comcast.net.
