LATE NIGHT STORM RIPS THRU FLOYD COUNTY

Written by Matt Davis on February 23, 2012. Posted in News/Weather

A storm ripped through Floyd County last night, leaving a handful of people without power and causing some structure damage.  Speaking of power outages, Tim Hensley with the Floyd County School system told WLAQ News/The Ridge Report this morning that schools in the Model district will be closed today due to power outage.  That includes Model Elementary, Middle and High Schools, Johnson Elementary and the Floyd County Education Center.

Some .30 inches of rain was received overnight at the Richard B. Russell Regional Airport/Admiral John H. Towers Field in the Armuchee community.  Today will be sunny with a high of 76.  More storms are expected to move into the area tonight.
