December 2nd through 8th is National Influenza Immunization Week, and local public health officials encourage everyone six months of age and older to get a yearly flu vaccine (if you haven’t already).

Janet Eberhart, the Immunizations Coordinator for Northwest Georgia Public Health, declares that now is a prime time to get protected against the flu, with holiday celebrations right around the corner.

As compared to last year, this flu season has not been too bad, acccording to Eberhart.  However, she adds, that is no reason to drop your defenses as it is still early in the season.

The Floyd County Health Department, located at 16 East 12th Street in Rome,  offers flu vaccinations on a walk-in basis during normal business hours.  For more information, call (706) 295-6123.
