Today is Kid’s Day at the Rome Shakespeare Festival!  Activities will begin on the Town Green at 6 pm; there will be food, music and entertainment for the family.

Julie McCluskey, RSF troupe member, says that highlights of this evening will include a performance of “The Velveteen Rabbit”, a musical.

The local Youth Symphony Orchestra will be the first performers of the day at 6 pm.  That will be followed at 6:45 pm by a performance of Mystery on the Town Green by the RSF Young Actors Company. “The Velveteen Rabbit” will take the stage at 8 pm.

Attendees may chow down on hot dogs and popcorn in addition to popsicles from the City Creamery, and wash that all down with soft drinks.

Performances of the Shakespeare classics “Much Ado About Nothing” and

“MacBeth” will resume on the Town Green on Wednesday.  Eliot Rutledge, who portrays MacBeth, hopes to make the classics of the “Great Bard” a bit more understandable to those on whom his work may have been previously lost.

McCluskey believes that witnessing Shakespeare’s works on stage makes them a little easier to understand than if you were to read them.
