HOUSEHOLD HAZARDOUS WASTE AND ELECTRONICS RECYCLING EVENT SET FOR SATURDAY

Written by Matt Davis on September 13, 2017. Posted in News/Weather

The Rome-Floyd Recycling Center will host a Household Hazardous Waste and Electronics Recycling Event this Saturday, September 16th.  Items will be collected from 9 am until 3 pm at the center, located at 405 Watters Street.

Michael Skeen, Director of Floyd County Public Works, states that the event will provide locals with an opportunity to dispose of hazardous waste such as paint cans, herbicides, bulbs and batteries, as well as computers and computer accessories and other electronic items like televisions.

Skeen adds that you must make an appointment in advance to dispose of your items on Saturday.  This can be done by calling the Rome-Floyd Recycling Center any time this week at (706) 291-5266.

The goal of recycling events such as these, according to Skeen, is to keep harmful liquids and heavy metals out of local waterways.

For more information about this Saturday’s Household Hazardous Waste and Electronics Recycling Event, search for it on Facebook or call Floyd County Public Works at (706) 236-2495.
